Will the pending Mulroney/Schreiber circus have local fallout in Central Nova?

Is O'Connor muzzled, or just scared?

Sorry if it seems like I'm harping on this, but I think it's an important story that isn't getting the attention it deserves. Another day, and still no comment from defence minister (for now) Gordon O'Connor on the withholding from the public of previously available information in Afghan detainees ordered by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Rick Hillier...

Uniting The Left

Minister of Natural Resources, Gary Lunn, might become one of the more high-profile casualties, stemming from the recent Liberal/Green alliance. It would appear there is a movement afoot in the riding of Saarich-Gulf Islands to "unite the left" against Mr. Lunn...

Only the rich will run for office

These concerns were raised and fell on deaf ears when the Conservatives first teamed-up with the NDP on this legislation. Perhaps now that the banks are raising these very pertinent concerns they'll be considered, although judging by the NDP and Conservative comments in the article I suspect not...

Bad timing? No. Just bad Layton policy

Forget the appalling timing of Jack Layton falsely accusing NATO forces of indiscriminately killing Afghan civilians on the same day that terrorists killed six Canadian soldiers and their Afghan interpreter.

No.

Focus instead on Layton's accusation...

For poutine's sake, we're all Canadian

Speaking of things Canadian, Canada Day is perhaps the only day of the year when it's considered Canadian to show a little patriotism. And certainly no where more so than the nation's capital, where Parliament Hill hosts the official, taxpayer-funded Canada Day bash...

Harp under microscope

Boss Harp has been PM for long enough to have a record. It's now Canada's Typical Tory Government. Spending like drunken sailors, cutting real services and tinkering on tax "rates". Just like Mike Harris with his Nonsense Revolution in Ontario. Harp is aided and abetted by the Four Horses Asses of the Harris Apocalypse...4Flaherty (Flim Flam Flip Flop, if you are wondering about the 4 in front of his name), Bully Baird, Creepy Clement and Tubby Van Loan...

Bloody Vikings!

Perhaps like me you're a bit mystified by Stephen Harper's $3.5 billion Arctic sovereignty initiatives that were first mentioned during the last election and will be taking shape in the coming years with the acquisition of ice-capable ships and other military hardware, as well as the construction of a northern naval station and a training centre for winter combat...

Eternal puzzle

This week our current prime minister toured Afghanistan, gave a pep rally speech to our fighting soldiers there, hinted the mission could go on for far longer than previously believed and donned flack jacket and combat helmet for a photo op with a gun-toting trooper, as he spilled out of a battlefield helicopter. Was this a celebration of our military, or an indulgence in militarism?
